URD's 5VZ Turbo Port Fueler is an ideal fueling solution for your turbo. URD has built several turbo systems for the 5VZ-FE engine. When fueling these systems we found that there are limits to how much you can increase the size of the primary fuel injectors and properly control them with a piggy back type of control unit.
URD developed the URD 5VZ Turbo Port Fueler. This system uses a sandwich plate that installs between the upper and lower intake connectors and provides each runner with its own additional fuel injector. Now you will have the 6 stock primary injectors, and 6 secondary additional injectors.
Tuning and fuel control is simplified with this approach. The engine will start, warm up, and drive under normal conditions using the stock fuel system and injectors. When boost starts to roll in and the stock fuel injectors began to lean out, the secondary injectors come online and provide the needed supplemental fuel to ensure proper fuel delivery. With this approach you could theoretically fuel any HP level just by changing the size of the secondary fuel injectors to match your HP level.
The URD 5VZ Turbo Port Fueler is designed to use a standard Bosch/Lucas type fuel injector with 14mm O-Rings. This are sometimes referred to as “Mustang” style injectors.
The Port Fueler has its own fuel rail with a -6 AN fuel rail fitting for attaching your fuel line to.
There are a couple of options we can provide you for controlling all 6 of the secondary additional injectors. We have the URD Additional Injector Controller (AIC-6) designed to run 6 additional high impedance injectors and we also offer the MAP-ECU2 that can drive up to 6 additional injectors. You can also use whatever control system you wish.
The sandwich plate will lift the upper intake connector about one inch and the fuel rail will extend to the driver’s side just under three inches. This fits fine in stock vehicles that came equipped with the 5VZ engine. We have found it does not work with vehicles fitting with a body type lift due to interference with the vacuum brake booster. Older trucks with automatic transmissions that have the transmission pressure regulator cable may require rerouting of the cable and fabrication of a new throttle cable mount. Newer automatic trucks without the transmission cable is not an issue. If you have transplanted a 5VZ into another vehicle check to ensure the URD 5VZ Port Fueler will have sufficient clearance with your combination.
The URD 5VZ Turbo Port Fueler will solve your turbo fueling problems and give your engine that unique high performance look.
Injectors, control unit, and fuel line are not included. Not compatible with the TRD Supercharger. Best with manual tranny. |
