The supercharger performance upgrade kit from Underdog Racing Development is based on years of testing and components that are well proven and at the best value in the industry. TRD did a good job developing their supercharger for the 3.4 V6 but there are three areas that were left for URD to improve on:

  • High RPM Lean Out
  • Part throttle boost enrichment
  • Boost Induced High Gear/Low RPM-Ping

URD’s kit cures all three issues on TRD Supercharged vehicles including all 3.4 engines; however, we recommend the URD 7th injector kit on 5VZ-FE applications where the engine does not have an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.

The URD Performance Calibration Unit will ship pre-loaded with a start-up calibration file that will get you up and running. For best results, we recommend checking/verifying the tuning and adjusting as needed. Tuning may be required after installation.

Note:  There is a known issue with installing the TRD Supercharger on the 1995-1996 Tacoma, and pre 1997 T-100. The stock ECU act oddly to the boost of the supercharger and takes all the ignition timing away and the engine will not make power. Many customers have installed stock ECUs out of 1997 vehicles to solve this problem. If you have a 1997 ECU in these vehicles, our fuel upgrade kit will work very well with it. After installation, you will need to connect to our control unit with the tuning software and verify a good RPM signal.  If you do not have a good RPM signal contact URD Tech Support by EMAIL and we can give you the workaround for this issue if you have it.

You will need to shorten the plastic fuel rail spacers to create proper down pressure on the manifold seal to achieve proper fitment of the fuel injectors.

Note: Thermostat is not included in the kit.

    If you plan on installing a S/C don’t forget this kit; installed kit and S/C in about 12 hours including the FTC unit and no issues, no check engine lights. My buddy installed a S/C without any other upgrades and he’s been suffering the usual issues of lean out and ping and not near as much power. This kit is a must have!

    I added this to my 04 Supercharged 4×4. This is what the S/C was designed to do with this kit. Before I got the kit, you can feel the engine starving for fuel. After this kit, the truck jumps forward. Study up on tuning, it can be pretty tricky. Tuning the timing (to get rid of engine ping below 3000 RPM) is extremely easy, the fuel tuning (to maximize efficiency and power) not so easy, but doable.

    The URD Fuel Upgrade Kit was the single best upgrade I did to my 2001 V6 Toyota Tacoma. I ordered the supercharger and fuel upgrade kit through URD and installed it all over a weekend with a couple of friends. The kit was easy to install and contained all the parts I needed to make my Tacoma fly.

    The supercharger and URD kit were on my vehicle for 118,000 miles without a single problem. I called my friends at URD every 20K miles for replacement spark plugs but that was about it.

    My truck is now gone, I traded it in last week on a new Tundra. I’ve owned many vehicles in my life but the Tacoma was one I’ll always remember thanks to the guys at URD. The truck ran amazingly well, even with 118,000 miles on it. For those of you considering a supercharger install for your Tacoma…don’t bother doing it unless you’re going to do it right with URD.

    I installed this system on my 1998 4Runner SR5, and all I can say is the difference is night and day! The installation instructions are straightforward and clear; you can get up and tuning in a weekend with the help of Gadget’s U-Tune guide. All of my ping has been eliminated, along with a significant increase in power accross the RPM range. There are no two ways about it: if you have a TRD Supercharged 3.4l V-6 Tacoma or 4Runner, you need this kit!

    WOW! This is how the TRD supercharger should have come. Install instructions are very straight forward and thorough and the support from URD is top notch! The response time is incredible. If you own a TRD supercharger this kit is a must and URD is a great company to do business with!
