The URD Stage 3+ performance clutch assembly uses segmented ceramic friction material on both sides of the clutch disc. This gives you a very crisp, but still very streetable engagement while providing better wear and durability than our Stage 3 clutch.
The hub assembly of the clutch is the heaviest duty sprung hub assembly on the market for this application. This hub assembly was developed after years of failure analysis of many different brands of clutches where weak points where identified and dramatically improved to bring you the most robust hub assembly available for this application. The clutches available until now for this application used sprung hub assemblies that were borrowed from the smaller sport compact market segment that have proven just not be up to the task of the heavier trucks with the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 engine, especially when you began to power them up with the popular power adders. If you look at the other clutches on the market you will see they all use a very similar small hub design and most of them get them from the very same supplier. Sometimes, bigger, beefier is better.
The pressure plate is also very different than other offerings for this application. Most clutches use a repainted stock pressure plate or a reworked stock pressure plate which leaves behind the deficiencies of the stock pressure plate. The pressure plate used in this clutch was developed after years of failure analysis of pressure plates from many different clutch brands where the weak points were identified. The result was a new design from a clean slate where the weak points where designed out and a new pressure plate assembly is made from scratch. This brings you the most durable and robust pressure plate available for this application with dramatically improved clamping pressure for better torque capacity, more plate lift (increase of 20%) for better high speed shifting, more durable gravity springs for more consistent lift and the highest cycle life possible (increase of 30%). This is not a repainted stock pressure plate; this is truly a new build performance plate.
